Jour 2 :

Panama City & the Canal

Discover Panama City and the Canal in private service

First stop: Panama La Vieja, the country’s first capital before it was destroyed by the notorious pirate Henry Morgan.

Then it’s on to the Panama Canal and the Miraflores locks. The visitors’ center offers a bird’s-eye view of all kinds of ships in transit (container ships, liners or tiny sailing boats…).

In addition, exhibitions retrace the history of the locks’ construction and describe how they work.

Then it’s on to the Casco Antiguo. This bohemian district plunges you into the country’s historic past, with its typical alleyways and colorful buildings leading to the Place de France.

Discover the art-deco architecture and the cathedral. In the late afternoon, transfer to your hotel and overnight in a Panama City hotel.

El Valle de Anton

Pick up your rental car anddrive from Panama City to El Valle de AntonDeparture for the province of Coclé, and more precisely the Valle de Anton nestled in the heart of an extinct crater. Boca Chica

Tour the islands of the Gulf of Chiriqui and Bahia de los Muertos. From Bocas del Mar to Boca Chica on the mainland, you’ll discover the breathtaking beauty of the Gulf of Chiriqui National Marine Park, with its pristine islands covered in tropical jungle.

The National Park covers 155 km² of ocean and islands, and is famous for its green iguanas, humpback whales, dolphins, many species of turtle, rays, monkeys, as well as hundreds of species of exotic birds and tropical fish.Overnight in a hotel in the Gulf of Chiriqui.

Jour 7 :

Soloy

Drive from Boca Chica to Soloy, a small village in the Ngöbe Buglé indigenous community in the highlands. A day of exploration to discover the Kiki waterfall and the Ngäbe Buglé indigenous community!The excursion begins with the welcoming ritual of the indigenous community’s cocoa.

We then depart for a guided hike (medium level) to the Ngäbe people’s waterfall, considered to be one of the largest in Panama and also known as the KiKi waterfall. Enjoy a hike in this area with magnificent views and a refreshing dip in the waterfall. On your return to the village, you’ll enjoy a delicious traditional lunch based on local products to surprise your taste buds. Route from Soloy to Boquete,departure in the direction of the Chiriqui mountains. After David, you’ll continue up to the village of Boquete, famous for its flowers and coffee.Overnight in a glamping dome in Boquete.

Jour 8 :

Jour 9 :

Bocas del Toro

Drive from Boquete to Almirante, then on to the port of Almirante, gateway to the Caribbean archipelago. On the way, you’ll encounter a variety of landscapes from the Cordillera de Talamanca to the Caribbean coast and see the dwellings of the Guayamies Indians. Return your vehicle in Almirante.Go to the port of Almirante and board a public motorboat for Isla Colón. Go to the center of Isla Colón and take a cab to Playa Bluff. Overnight in a hotel on the main island (Isla Colon).

Jour 10 :

Bocas del Toro

Sea outing to the Bastimentos islandsYou’ll sail into the Bahia Hondaarea, where it’s possible to observe dolphins (we don’t go into the dolphin cove to avoid disturbing them in this breeding area).You continue to Cayo Coral to snorkel and observe the coral gardens and the fauna that inhabit them. Then on to Zapatilla Caye, where you can enjoy the beach for 2 hours (you can walk around the island, swim and enjoy the beach).Back to Cayo Coral for lunch in a restaurant on the sea.Overnight in a hotel on the main island (Isla Colon).

Route to Costa Rica

Transfer from Bocas del Toro to Puerto Viejo, where you will take a boat to the port of Almirante. You will then cross the border into Costa Rica and continue on to Puerto Viejo, where you will spend the night in a hotel in Playa Chiquita.

Cahuita

Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui

Drive from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, thenon to Sarapiqui: an important river port since colonial times, whose forests are home to tapirs, sloths, coatis and a variety of monkeys.Discover the heart of palm.

A short stopover between Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui and the village of Horquetas, at the home of a farmer who grows palmitos (hearts of palm). Visit the plantation, taste the raw hearts and enjoy a typical meal based on palmitos in the local restaurant.On arrival, the staff will introduce you to their traditional finca (farm). In the afternoon, you’ll discover the secrets of organic pineapple and sugarcane cultivation, and enjoy a 15-minute nocturnal frog-watching tour.Overnight in a traditional finca.

Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui

The Sarapiqui Riveris the perfect combination of adventure and nature. Arenal

Arenal

Poas volcano

Drive fromArenal to Poas. Depart for Poas Volcano, which, at 1.6 km in diameter and 300 m deep, is reputed to have the world’s largest active crater. Poas National Park.Visit Poas Volcano National Park, which, at 1.6 km in diameter and 300 m deep, is reputed to have one of the world’s largest active craters. Then visit the small vulcanology center and the National Park. A vast terrace offers a breathtaking view of a caldera (collapsed crater) from which sulphurous fumaroles escape.Drive from Poas to San José, stopping off at the charming village of Barva, whose San Bartolomé church is a listed historic monument. Situated at the foot of the Barva volcano, this picturesque town features many modest 18th-century adobe houses with traditional red-tiled roofs.Return your vehicle.
