Combined tours in Central America

Multi-country trips Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua

From a Caribbean archipelago to the slopes of an active volcano, from a bustling colonial city to silent mangroves. Our combined tours invite you to explore Central America not as a series of stages, but as a fluid territory, where each country extends the other while asserting its singularity. To facilitate logistics, Terra Panamerica has a network of local agencies established in each Central American country. This direct presence ensures smooth, efficient coordination of multi-destination itineraries, with a single point of contact and no intermediaries or third-party service providers

Multi-country tours in Central America

Central America lends itself naturally to multi-destination travel. Short distances, accessible borders and a diversity of landscapes make it possible to combine several countries in a single itinerary, from Panama to Guatemala, via Costa Rica and Nicaragua

Why combine several countries?

Our combined tours in Central America are based on a simple logic: each country in the region has specific assets that complement each other. Panama offers its canal and Caribbean archipelagos, Costa Rica its national parks and biodiversity, Nicaragua its active volcanoes and colonial towns, Guatemala its Mayan sites and traditional markets.

Crossing Central America Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama

  • 18 days
  • Grande traversée

From a complete crossing of Panama to Nicaragua, to a tour of the Panama Canal and Costa Rican forests, each journey offers a geographical and human interpretation of the continent: volcanoes and mountain ranges, rainforests and tropical shores, rural traditions, fragile independence and mixed identities.

These itineraries are designed for those seeking diversity in a single movement: a morning on a Kuna island, a night overlooking Lake Arenal, a few days in the colonial streets of Cartagena or beneath the waterfalls of Tenorio. Far from borders drawn on a map, our tours tell the story of what connects these lands: a shared language, a fragmented history, and an ever-changing nature.

The most coherent combinations

Panama – Costa Rica

This classic duo combines the highlights of both countries: the Panama Canal and San Blas Islands on the Panamanian side, volcanoes and cloud forests on the Costa Rican side. The border is easily crossed between Bocas del Toro (Panama) and Puerto Viejo or the Osa Peninsula (Costa Rica). Recommended duration: 14 to 18 days

Nicaragua – Costa Rica – Panama

This triptych covers Central America progressively. Nicaragua brings its colonial cities (Granada, León) and accessible volcanoes. Costa Rica introduces the natural dimension with its national parks. Panama concludes with the canal and Caribbean beaches. Recommended duration: 18 to 21 days

Guatemala – Nicaragua – Costa Rica

This combination combines culture and nature. Guatemala offers Mayan sites (Tikal), Lake Atitlán and indigenous markets. Nicaragua and Costa Rica add volcanoes, lakes and tropical forests. Passage is usually by flight between Guatemala City and Managua. Recommended duration: 18 to 21 days

Panama – Colombia

Less frequent but consistent, this duo links two countries with different profiles. Panama serves as a base with its classics, while Colombia adds Cartagena, the coffee region or the Guajira desert. Passage is exclusively by air (no overland route via the Darién). Recommended duration: 15 to 18 days

Who are these itineraries for?

These multi-country tours are ideal for travelers with two to three weeks’ travel time who want to maximize their time in Central America. The approach remains more panoramic than a trip focused on a single country, but allows you to compare atmospheres, vary experiences, and possibly determine which country to return to on a future trip

Why choose Terra Panamerica for your multi-country tours?

A network of interconnected local agencies

Our combined tours are supported by teams based in Panama (Terra Panama), Costa Rica (Terra Costa Rica), Nicaragua (Terra Nicaragua) and Guatemala (Terra Guatemala). Each agency manages its own portion of the itinerary with its own guides, drivers and local partners, guaranteeing continuity of service from one country to the next. The guides know their territory, speak French or English according to your needs, and communicate with each other to ensure smooth transitions at border crossings

Controlled logistics at border crossings

Land border crossings are often a sticking point on multi-country tours. With Terra Panamerica, we take care of these steps in advance: assistance with formalities, transfer from the guide of one country to the guide of the next, baggage management, etc. We also coordinate domestic flight schedules when overland travel is too long, and organize transfers between airports and accommodations without unnecessary waiting time

Directly selected accommodation

Our local presence enables us to work with accommodations that we know personally. No standard catalog: lodges, hotels and resorts are chosen for their quality, their location, and their ability to respond quickly to unforeseen circumstances. This direct relationship also facilitates specific requests: connecting rooms for families, special diets, private celebrations or last-minute changes

French-speaking assistance in every country

Every Terra agency has a French-speaking team on hand to help you during your stay. You don’t have to manage different contacts depending on the country you’re in: the emergency number remains the same, and our internal network coordinates responses. This assistance covers program adjustments, practical questions (health, transport, timetables), and unforeseen situations (flight delays, mechanical problems, weather changes)

Consistent rates without intermediary surcharges

Working with a network of local agencies eliminates middleman margins. You pay directly for services at the price negotiated by each Terra agency in its own country, with no additional commission for multi-destination coordination. This pricing transparency also enables us to adapt tours to your budget: we can adjust the category of accommodation in one country while maintaining the same standard in another, depending on your priorities

Flexibility in itinerary construction

Our combined tours don’t follow rigid formulas. Our local presence allows us to personalize each stage: add a day in a region, delete an activity that doesn’t interest you, change the order of visits according to the weather or your wishes. This flexibility also extends to departure dates: no fixed groups with an imposed calendar. You leave when you want, and we adapt the availability of guides and accommodation accordingly

Follow-up before, during and after the trip

You prepare your trip directly with the team who knows the terrain. Your questions are answered with precision, based on the day-to-day experience of our local teams rather than on generic descriptions. During the trip, contact remains direct with the local agencies. After your return, we remain available for your feedback and any administrative formalities (detailed invoices, certificates of stay).
